Billy Marrero (Percussion / Band Leader / Vocals)

Billy relocated to Miami from his native Puerto Rico and quickly became very active in the  South Florida music scene. After forming part of local bands such as Orquesta Deluxe, Sabor, &  Vision, he founded Orquesta SalsaGorda, releasing their début CD “Como quiera que lo quieras”  with Universal Music. Billy was also a founding member of the Latin rock band Cuchara, where  he displayed his writing talents in several original compositions released on their CD release “La  primera cena.”

Billy has had the privilege of accompanying such greats as Pete “El Conde” Rodríguez,  Adalberto Santiago, Celio González, Iris Chacón, and Daniel Santos, among others. He has also shared the stage with the likes of El Gran Combo, Grupo Niche, and José Alberto “El Canario.” Now in the Triangle, he has played with local Latin jazz band Carnavalito, as well as Tropic  Orchestra.

Billy has now taken on a new project by co-founding Orquesta K’che, along with musical  director Andrés León. “This is a project that has been in the planning for a while now,” said  Billy. “We are very excited that K’che is now ready to make its mark on the local music scene.  We are all about pleasing the dancing public, bringing them a mix of salsa, cumbia, merengue, Latin jazz, de todo!!!
